In Marietta, GA the mother of a four year old who was hit and killed by a drunk driver is facing two years in jail, which might end up being more than the DUI driver did.  He served six months of a five year sentence.  She is being retried on charges of second-degree homicide by vehicle, crossing a roadway at a point not in the crosswalk, and reckless conduct.  All because she didn't take her son down to the crosswalk to cross.

"Man of Steel" hit movie theaters at midnight last night and brought in a respectable $12 million on Thursday.  Speculation is running rampant that if the opening weekend box office isn't high enough, Warner Brothers and DC Comics will scrap plans for a proposed Justice League movie.

A former Simi Valley grade school teacher admitted to having a sexual relationship with a male student who was under 14 years of age.  Malia Brooks entered a plea of guilty as part of a plea deal where several other charges were dropped.

$48 to see a movie?  That's what Paramount and Regal Theaters are combining to offer for "World War Z".  Buy the ticket and you get to see the film two days before it opens nationwide, in RealD/3D, and you also get to keep the special glasses, a small popcorn, a limited-edition full-size movie poster and a copy of the movie in HD digital when it is released.  The deal is being tested at five theaters around the country, including the Regal 21 at the Irvine Spectrum.

After a standoff with police, a man was arrested in Northridge after allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend.  He also reportedly shot himself in the face.  Unconfirmed reports from the scene indicate that there was a dispute with the girlfriend involving the man's cross-dressing.

In the wake of the photo of a Taco Bell employee licking a stack of shells, there is now one of a Wendy's employee eating soft serve ice cream directly from the dispenser.

Former MLB star Lenny Dykstra will reportedly be released from prison this weekend after serving 15 months of a three year sentence.  Dykstra pled no contest to grand theft auto and filing a false financial report.

Remember playing Monopoly and getting the Community Chest card that read "Bank error in your favor, collect $200"??  Well, a woman in Georgia had just the opposite experience and since the bank's apparent error left her $300 million in debt, she's relying on friends to support her until the mistake is straightened out.

A real estate broker who appears on the TV reality show "Million Dollar Listing New York" got caught on the show photoshopping a $7 million apartment he has the listing for.  Luis Ortiz used the program to add marble countertops, hardwood floors and an upgraded kitchen.  He is now being investigated by state authorities.

Donte Hill was going to play his final year of college basketball at Old Dominion but an eight minute appearance he made in a pre-season scrimmage while he was still enrolled as a sophomore at Clemson has caused the NCAA to say he won't.  The NCAA ruled that by playing those eight minutes, he used up a full year of college eligibility.

A production company making a documentary about the song "Happy Birthday to You" is suing Warner/Chapell Music, saying the company's claim it holds exclusive copyright to any performance of the song.

Mariah Carey's favorite TV show is not "America's Got Talent".  It is "Game of Thrones".  I'm relieved.  If she'd said it was "Honey Boo Boo", I'd have lost what respect I have left for her.

The driver of a New Jersey "express" bus taking commuters to New York City got lost on the way, making the passengers two hours late in arriving.
