Worry in Laker-town

Some will probably find it fitting that if Kobe had to go down with a season-ending injury, it would be an Achilles tendon injury.  For of late, Kobe has been much like the ancient Greek hero, appearing to be invulnerable and unstoppable.  Now, this injury may de-rail the Lakers post-season dreams.  As a fervent fan of the team, I want to see them band together, step-up and overcome this setback, make the post-season and advance beyond the first round.

The thief who stole President Obama's teleprompter will spend seven years in prison, and perhaps more since the state of Virginia will not join in the plea agreement reached in federal court.  All he did was steal a truck.  It just happened to be the wrong truck.  Then again, maybe the problem is that everyone who steals a truck doesn't do more than a few months in prison.

I wanted to go play trivia after work last night very much.  It didn't happen because I didn't get out of the office in time to make the drive there.  But I have to admit that since I had no chance to get there for the main game I wanted to play, once it was too late for that, fatigue was a factor in deciding not to go.  Mostly it was not being able to play any part of that game.  But I also factored in that I will have another long, busy day today and I needed to be resting, not spending 80 to 100 minutes driving.  I'm hopeful based on how the Monday calendar looks that I can get there for trivia on Monday.  Tuesday, Wednesday and next Friday should not be impacted by work.  Or fatigue, hopefully.

I love the fact that the current housekeeper gives my room a thorough cleaning once a week.  But there can be a downside, as when she straightens up, sometimes I lose track of things.  There were two DVDs that had come in from Netflix and somehow they ended up at the bottom of a stack of papers.  That was weeks and weeks ago.  I found them last night.  I'd reported them as not received.  Fortunately they weren't actually lost or tossed.

I just peaked at the office calendar.  The client who had been scheduled for this morning at 10 has disappeared completely.  Guess she called and cancelled.  Oh well, I can actually use the break.  What's interesting is that I have only two appointments on Sunday, and only one so far on Monday.  Last two days and we have very few appointments on the calendar thus far.  We aren't an office that gets a lot of walk-ins, so maybe I'll be going home early on Sunday and Monday. I'd rather just be doing returns at this point.
