All across the country...

People who do what I do are relaxing.  Or trying to.  I woke up early this morning and could not fall back to sleep.  But I was so exhausted I just laid in bed watching reruns of old game shows.  I didn't even bother looking for something better on TV.  I didn't want to expend the energy to change the channel.  I feel a little better now but am still very, very tired.

I won't go into detail about how I felt when I got home last night other than to say I toyed with the idea of going to the emergency room for about an hour or so and finally just rolled over and went to sleep.

My work at the year-round office starts tomorrow, but will stop for a full two months on April 30th and I am actually looking forward to many days where I have nowhere to go and nothing to do, to try to rest and engage in more recovery.  I will say I'm glad to be working reduced hours and days until April 30th and after that two month break.

Imagine putting a dollar into the bank two days ago and now you want to get it back, but the teller hands you only 87 cents.  That's what has happened to the price of gold over the last two days.  A 13% drop.  Considering how people have flocked to investing in gold with the promises of vast increases in its price, this is coming as a rude awakening to them.  Gold, like any other investment, carries an element of risk.

"The Avengers" was a big hit last year, but how big is always a question when it comes to Hollywood's accounting practices, and who owns which pieces of films.  Now the "Iron-Man" himself, Robert Downey Jr., is confirming that the film that united him with other Marvel super-heroes on the big screen was, counting 'back-end', around $50 million.  Considering the box-office bonanza the backers of the film realized, it was money well spent.

Social media continues to produce interesting news items.  Like the Tacoma, WA man whose wife discovered that he was still married to his first wife, when Facebook suggested that the first wife might be "someone she knew" and they friended each other.  The husband now faces a bigamy charge.  His excuse?  "I've never done anything intentionally wrong in my life."

L.A. Unified may need to rent out meeting space to hold those teachers who are the subjects of abuse allegations in "teacher jail" because their number is now more than 300.  That's frightening, considering how long it seems to take them to investigate and resolve a case that isn't being handled by law enforcement, where an arrest is imminent.
