Thankful and Concerned

I am thankful evaery morning, not just on this particular day to just awaken. Why? Because back in 2010 doctors were pretty sure I was going to die. I wrote about this here, but just an overview of what happenned. The doctors told my mom she should gather the family. She knew better. I've been a fighter and fierce competitor my entire life.

I am thankful for my friends. Both IRL and online. I've met and befriended some wonderful people online.

I am thankful for being as healthy as I am, even though it is nowhere near where I once was. In my 40s I ran half-marathons and did 100 mile bicycle rides. Now I need an oxygen tank to walk more than half of a block. But I'm far healthier than I was when I was discharged from the sub-acute unit back in 2011.

I'm thankful to have achieved some success in my profession. To have acquired a useful skill set.

I am thankful so many others are like me, doing whatever we can to defend our democracy and fight for our freedoms. Others who oppose bigotry and prejudice that we see in so many forms. When the father of an alleged murderer in a mass shooting at an LGBTQ bar is relieved because his son isn't gay, rather than horrified at his son's alleged actions, there is something seriously wrong in that man's mind.

I am thankful for the fact that while I'm not wealthy, I can help out my friends from time to time; when needed.

Hope you all had a wondeeful Thanksgiving.
