Schoolyard Bullies

"Regina George" in Mean Girls
"Biff Tannen" in Back to the Future
"Johnny Lawrence" in the original Karate Kid
"Fred O'Bannon" in Dazed and Confused
"Jack" in Lord of the Flies
"Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann" in Full Metal Jacket

The question is, what does Donald Trump have in common with these six fictional characters from film?  All are extreme bullies.  Kareem Abdul-Jabbar hit on this in his op-ed piece that Mr. Trump did not take well, and you can read that here Jabbar Op-Ed.

But now Mr. Trump has gone beyond being just a bully.  He's a bully who is lying about his bullying as evidenced by his latest attack.  He took a pot shot at fellow candidate Carly Fiorina, as shown in this excerpt from the Rolling Stone interview with him:

"When the anchor throws to Carly Fiorina for her reaction to Trump's momentum, Trump's expression sours in schoolboy disgust as the camera bores in on Fiorina. "Look at that face!" he cries. "Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!" The laughter grows halting and faint behind him. "I mean, she's a woman, and I'm not s'posedta say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?"

Then when confronted with the reality of what he'd said, he tried to back away from insulting how the face of Carly Fiorina looks by claiming he was talking about her "persona."  In an interview with Fox News Channel's Fox and Friends he said, 'Probably I did say something like that about Carly,' he said. 'I'm talking about persona. I'm not talking about look.'  Problem is he went on to say, 'Probably I did say something like that about Carly,' he said. 'I'm talking about persona. I'm not talking about look.

Let's parse this.  His initial comment about her face was followed by a self-critical comment about how since she is a woman, he isn't "supposed to" say things like that about her.  When discussing someone's persona, their gender is not relevant.  When discussing someone's looks, gender becomes very important.  So these protests of his trying to defend what he said aren't just spin, they're out and out lies.  Yet no one calls him on it.  Maybe Mr. Abdul-Jabbar was right, and the mainstream media is afraid of offending Mr. Trump.  Look what he did to the Des Moines Register when they dared to suggest he should end his campaign.

Donald Trump is still emotionally the spoiled rich kid who doesn't like not being the most popular, most well-liked kid on the school yard.  Piss him off and he doesn't pick up his ball and go home, he goes on the attack.  Just like his daddy taught him.

Bullies don't make good leaders of nations.
