Why is it

Joe McKnight was shot and killed.  We know this to be a fact.  He did not have a gun.  We know this to be a fact.  The man who shot him, Darren Gasser, admitted to the shooting.  Also a fact.

So why hasn't he been charged?  Why was he released?  Why was a charge of misdemeanor assault against Mr. Gasser filed in 2006 dismissed the following year?  We know he missed his court date and paid a fine for contempt of court.

I am always the first one to call for not rushing to judgment.  With a black victim and a white shooter, was it racial?  We don't know yet.

This one isn't going away.  That sheriff better have his ducks in a row.

Speaking of guns, a new study done by Harvard and Northeastern shows that 3% of Americans own 50% of the guns in the U.S.  The study also shows that the number of guns in the U.S. has increased by over 70 million in the last two decades while the percentage of Americans who own a firearm has dropped from 25% to 22%.

Why is it that the NRA is able to so successfully lobby the Congress to keep common sense laws regarding the control of who has guns?

Perhaps my suggestion in an earlier blog about a stricter legal definition of just who the militia would be, and how to take part in it is one way to achieve this goal.

Wonder how Tom Cruise feels about being ranked in the "Top 5" of Cher's lovers?

From the "what the hell were they thinking" file. The man in this video, one Onasi Olio-Rojas, streamed video of himself driving over 100 mph before crashing.  He was driving on a suspended license.

What will happen to him this time?  Probably not enough to prevent him from doing something similar in the future and putting the lives of others at risk.

Haim Saban is a billionaire media mogul who is very active politically.  He is on the record as having said, "I'm a one-issue guy, and my issue is Israel."

Keith Ellison is a member of Congress representing Minnesota in the 5th Congressional District in the House of Representatives.  He has made it known that he is seeking to become the Chairperson of the Democratic National Committee.

Now Mr. Saban has called Congressman Ellison an anti-Semite.  He says that the fact that Congressman Ellison is a Muslim has nothing to do with his claim and that it is based on Ellison's remarks in the past.

I suspect that Congressman Ellison's candidacy to become Chair of the DNC is in trouble if Mr. Saban is opposing him.

Nearly 600 patients at a Veterans Administration facility in Wisconsin may have been exposed to HIV or Hepatitis B or C while being treated by a dentist there.  CNN reports that what this dentist allegedly did was "purposeful."

House Speaker Paul Ryan wants to know why this dentist hasn't been fired.  That's political bluster, as even Speaker Ryan knows that due process is involved.

I want to know why this dentist hasn't been suspended, rather than merely being relegated to an administrative role where he isn't seeing patients.

If I was running that facility, that man wouldn't set foot inside of it except to take part in the due process leading up to his termination; and possible prosecution if warranted.
