Doctors perform emergency C-section and find patient wasn't pregnant; and other eye-catching headlines

Doctors in Brazil were told the female patient was 41 weeks pregnant, with proof of pre-natal care, and that she was in need of an emergency C-section.  So they skipped the ultrasound, opened her up and found...no baby.  Turned out she has pseudocyesis.

Every year people publish their lists of the Darwin Awards (usually several lists come out).  Of the ones that I've scanned so far, my favorite is a robber who pointed his gun and pulled the trigger and it didn't fire.  So he looked down the barrel to see what was wrong, pulled the trigger again and shot himself to death.

In Texas, a woman remains on a ventilator, in spite of her having made it clear to her husband that she would have never wanted him to keep her on life support, because when she collapsed, she was 14 weeks pregnant.  Texas law trumps even an advanced healthcare directive when the woman is pregnant.  The husband and his wife's parents all agree she should be taken off of life support, as the fetus was undoubtedly subjected to serious harm when the mother stopped breathing for a long period.

Valeria Lukyanova, the self-described "Human Barbie" is now claiming that she time-travels and communicates with aliens.  I'll give her credit, she sure looks like a Barbie.


The man who was known as "Nitro" on the American Gladiators TV program suffered a heart attack and he's blaming it on having abused steroids during his time on the show.

SeaWorld has released an open letter to try and counter criticism they are receiving from the documentary film "Blackfish".  Eight of ten musical acts that were scheduled to perform at SeaWorld have cancelled over the allegations of SeaWorld's mistreatment of killer whales.

A mom and her 14 year old daughter were in the family hot tub, topless and her 18 year old daughter snapped a photo.  Now the mom is facing charges of child endangerment.
