CBS and producers of NCIS worried about the show's future and other eye-catching headlines

CBS has the #1 scripted drama on television in "NCIS" and that show has held onto that top spot firmly for more than one season now.  But Cote de Pablo couldn't reach a deal with producers and will be leaving.  The network and producers are worried that this will hurt the show's ratings, so they have started discussing the issue.  More on this in a daily blog entry.

In Pasadena, there were fights outside the Apple store as people jockeyed for position in the long line to buy the newest iPhone.  A man had "hired" several dozen of the homeless denizens of L.A.'s Skid Row to stand in line so he could buy a large quantity of phones, but they were left stranded there when police took that man away from the scene.

Doctors have discovered that a 61 year old man in Texas wasn't a drunk for the past five years as everyone believed him to be.  He was suffering from gut fermentation syndrome.  It's a condition where an overgrowth of yeast in the gut causes the fermentation of carbohydrates into ethanol.  With the right medication, he's no longer drunk on his own juices.

A woman in the Pittsburgh area is asking officials in Allentown to explain how she got a parking ticket 300 miles from her home when she has never been there.

An animal control officer in Shirley, NY was found to have 850 snakes in his home when officials investigated his claim for workers compensation.  Richard Parrinello had claimed he was physically unable to do his job.  The snakes, valued at $500,000 were being sold by Parinello through an online business named Snakeman's Exotics.

Stony Brook University students who can't afford the university's meal plan ($2,000 per semester) and don't qualify for food stamps now have an alternative way to satisfy their hunger.  A food pantry for the needy students has been established, funded by donations and run by volunteers.

A South Carolina woman traded her $2,000 Louis Vuitton purse for a spot in the line for a new iPhone, because she'd been told the supply was limited.  She got the phone.

As if the various incarnations of "The Real Housewives of _____" wasn't enough, Oxygen will air a new reality show "Lifestyles of the Rich and Spiritual", featuring religious leaders in L.A. who live very privileged existences.

A family dining at Applebee's were asked to leave after their children allegedly became too disruptive and things escalated until the police were summoned.  Now the restaurant has apologized, while people who claim to have witnessed the whole thing are defending the actions of restaurant management.

TMZ is trying to make Britney Spears out as a "turncoat" by digging into the court documents involving her conservatorship and pointing out that the singer invested in Coca-Cola stock after she'd been paid $8 million to promote Pepsi.

Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis is facing foreclosure on his $11 million plus Los Angeles home, although he says his accountant will be taking care of things before that happens.

Another notable name facing foreclosure is Dina Lohan.  Will Lindsay bail her out again (she gave mom $40,000 once before to avoid foreclosure)?
