On this morning's walk...

In my mind, for part of the time, I was running.  Running one of the most difficult road races I ever did, the Old Hometown 10K in Manhattan Beach.  For those who think Manhattan Beach is this flat city near the beach, you're just so wrong.  The course is very hilly and running up and down hills is a lot more difficult than running on a flat surface.  It was a very difficult race and I was very glad to see the finish line.

The rest of the time I spent observing.  I noticed for the first time that the gluten-free bakery is right next door to an office that offers chiropractice care, accupuncture and full-body massage.  All the health you need, right next to one another.

I saw that one of the nail salons I pass by each morning advertises their free "Wi-Fi" on their window.  I can't imagine getting a manicure while taking advantage of Wi-Fi, but maybe some women are using their smart phones or iPads while having their legs (or something else I don't want to contemplate) waxed.

A different nail salon has a slogan in their window.  "We Know Nails".  I want to start a list of "Most Obvious Slogans" for businesses and that should be right at the top.  If they don't know their primary business, they shouldn't be in business.  That's not a great slogan.  Best slogan of the month, year, hell, century, here in Culver City belongs to Culver City Meats.  "You Can't Beat Our Meat" is painted on the side of their trucks.  See it once and you'll remember them always.

My legs were very stiff this morning and I did not feel good as I started out, but after a couple of minutes, they started to loosen up and it was okay.  I am glad I did this early, as it is going to be very hot today.
