2018 CA Primary Ballot - Proposition 71

This is the summary of Prop 71 from the Secretary of State's website:

"Provides that ballot measures approved by a majority of voters shall take effect five days after the Secretary of State certifies the results of the election. Fiscal Impact: Likely little or no effect on state and local finances."

This is a simple proposition (pun intended).  At the moment, ballot propositions go into effect the day after election day, unless the proposition specifies a different date.  That's ridiculous.  In this age of vote early, mail-in ballots and so on; election results may be unclear after election day.  Proposition 71 is a common sense solution to this problem.  We may not agree that even five days is sufficient time to determine the outcome of a close election, but five is a major improvement over one.

I am voting YES on Proposition 71.
