Saturday in the park....er...headlines

In Huntington Beach, the City Council is finally going to take action to eliminate the city's ordinance that at present bans hypnotism within the city limits. 

Now the question isn't so much about why the IRS was targeting conservative groups seeking nonprofit status, but when senior officials of the Service were aware this was going on.  The then IRS commissioner, Douglas Shulman testified before Congress in March of 2012 that such targeting was not going on.

LAUSD wanted to fire a veteran teacher who they accused of helping students to cheat on a test, but the state's Commission on Professional Competence said no.  They did conclude the teacher cheated, but did not approve his termination, instead sending him back into the classroom.

Officials in the L.A. County government are worried that immigration reform will break the bank for the county, as 10% of the nation's "illegals" live in Los Angeles County.

In the case of the 8 year old girl mysteriously stabbed in a quiet Northern California community, police have finally made an arrest.  They've taken her 12 year old brother into custody.

Michelle Knight, the third of the Cleveland kidnap victims has been released from the hospital, but she did not go to her mother's home.  Her mother is saying she was not allowed to visit Michelle in the hospital.  She has hired a lawyer.

The two brothers of accused kidnapper/rapist/murderer Ariel Castro have denied any knowledge of what was going on in his home.  They will be doing an exclusive interview with CNN in short-order.

Orenthal James Simpson will be in a Las Vegas courtroom on Monday, making another bid to be released from prison.  He has filed for a writ of habeas corpus, a last-ditch effort to get out of jail and be granted a new trial.

Manny Ramirez is playing pro baseball in Taiwan, and now he's come onto the field for a game dressed in an Incredible Hulk costume.

Amy Trask has resigned as CEO of the Oakland Raiders.  Trask, who has been with the team since 1987 was the first female CEO in the NFL.  She decided to step down when team owner Mark Davis let her know her role in running the team would be reduced under his ownership.   Davis inherited the team in 2011 when his father, Al Davis, passed away.

Buffalo Wild Wings is going to change how it serves its signature item.  Larger chickens are forcing the chain of sports bars to go from the per-piece system for chicken wings, to a portion-size based on weight.  Otherwise, spiking food costs will force them to raise prices.
